Environmental Compliance Manager

About the role

A position has arisen for an experienced Environmental Compliance Manager.  Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will help drive environmental improvements across the company. The candidate will manage a small team, work closely with staff across the company, engage with the suppliers, customers, NGOs and government.  The role will require some foreign travel.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with the management and purchasing team to manage corporate environmental compliance and purchasing governance
  • Ensure all processes comply with the UK Timber Regulation, Construction Products Regulation and Modern Slavery Act
  • Maintain a robust due diligence system to ensure compliance with the UK Timber Regulation, including assessing and auditing suppliers, and coordinating with external service providers
  • Act as a key point of contact for any legal compliance queries, both internal and external
  • Reporting to government enforcement bodies, certification schemes and trade associations
  • Monitoring progress and reporting to the Board of Directors
  • Representing the company at external committees, supporting wider industry improvements
  • Developing internal training materials, marketing and communication content and coordinating with relevant external service provides
  • Work with the Quality Manager to ensure environmental compliance is successfully incorporated into company procedures
